  • The currency of Cuba is both Cuban Pesos and Cuban Convertible Pesos. US dollars used to be passable currency on all inclusive Cuba holidays but this is no longer prohibited. Cuban Convertible Pesos are used to buy larger items or to pay for entrance fees or hotel stays.
  • Cuba has its own university, the University of Havana.
  • Beware of purchasing counterfeit items such as cigars or cigarettes. These are often offered by people on the street so be aware of this if you are taking a walk around the area of your hotel or any famous landmark.
  • Short changing is common, especially with the confusion of two different types of currency so it is best to learn the value of the currencies before you go.
