The holiday beaches in Cayo Santa Maria are calm white sand stretches on the island’s north side. Although the island is not large the beaches cannot be walked across from one side of Cayo Santa Maria to the other because of jagged fossilised coral which blocks pedestrians’ paths. The largest beach is six kilometres long on the north west and it is where most Cayo Santa Maria hotels reside. There are five beaches in total and the ones on the east side of the north coast can only be reached either by car, scooter or taxi.
