There are a good few beaches to visit on Monemvasia holidays and they are rarely busy. Some have one or two facilities for tourists and most offer a fantastic view of the rock of Monemvasia. Mandrake beach is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the fortress so is probably the most convenient beach. It is also near the port so you can stretch your legs down at the pretty harbour if you get bored. Unfortunately the shoreline is quite narrow but the water is clear and a delight to look out on. A more tourist orientated beach for your holidays in Monemvasia is Pori beach with its sun loungers and parasols. It is 2 kilometres from Monemvasia and a lot better for families and visitors looking for a bit more of the European tourist vibe instead of traditional Grecian charm. 7 kilometres away from the fortress is Xifas Beach which a long luxurious stretch and well worth a visit.
Don’t forget to get a feel of the history all inclusive holidays Monemvasia have to offer. You are in an ancient Greek fortress after all. Inside the mosque in Monemvasia castle is a wealth of archaeological finds depicting the fortress’ history. The mosque has had many past lives, firstly as a place of worship, a public building, a prison and then a coffee shop before wisely being converted into a museum for visitors on Monemvasia all inclusive.
