The outskirts of Bourgas, holidays are populated by lakes, the three main ones being Vaya, Mandrenensko and Atanaskovsko. Vaya is the largest lake and is also known as Bourgas Lake. Swimming isn’t recommended as the waters aren’t very clean. Atanosovsko is a saltier lake and so attracts a lot of Bulgarian birds that feed on the salt flora. Part of this lake is a nature reserve where rare birds can often be seen, a good place for bird watching for those tourists that have come on holidays to Bourgas to enjoy such activities. Mandrensko is also a popular bird watching spot and also houses a dam.
There are lots more activities besides visiting the lakes, especially if you choose one of the fantastic and cheap all inclusive holidays . Bourgas Sand Fest attracts top sand sculptors from all over the world to make some fantastic seaside creations. Entrance is free and visitors are encouraged to take pictures.
