Limassol

A central market on Limassol holidays is held from Monday to Saturday from 6am to 3pm each day in the more traditional quarter of Saripolou near the local town hall. The market itself is in an extravagantly large building built at the beginning of the 20th century. You can buy various traditional Cyprus foodstuffs, dishes and snacks here including Cyprus’ own version of Turkish delight and olive oil. Venture outside the central market building on your holiday in Limassol and you will find lots of little tavernas that are older in style and custom than the more commercial pubs and clubs around the seafront.

The main draw on visitors on all inclusive holidays in Limassol is Limassol castle which is part of the Old Town quarter. The castle has a history chequered with various cultures including the Byzantines, Lusignans, Venetians, Ottomans and Turks who used the building as a prison for a short period. It was also the headquarters of the British army during World War 2 and is an important spot for military veterans on  Limassol all inclusive. Religious symbols can be found around the castle, particularly in the section devoted to Byzantine art. The flat rooftop of the castle allows you to see some spectacular views of the area which make great photo opportunities.
