Alte is part of the central Algarve in the south coast of Portugal. One of the busiest days on Alte holidays is Saturday where the village to comes to life with market stalls. Nearby Loule also has a fantastic gypsy market where you can buy souvenirs for reasonable prices. The larger town of Silves with its whitewashed houses is also a nice place to shop with more variety perhaps than that of the main market on Alte holidays.

There is a lovely picnic area five minutes away from your all inclusive holidays in Alte if you fancy a stroll after the midday heat subsides. Here you can look out onto a small musical stream where the water is said to cure most ailments. You will see tiled panels along the wider banks of the stream. Engraved on these tiles are the verses of the poet Candido Guerreiro who grew up in the area long before all inclusive holidays Alte existed.

Although most visitors prefer to take holidays in the summer months a great time to come here is during the May Day Festival. A Folklore Festival is also held on the second Sunday in August.
